Kim O'Neil is the Business Tech Teacher at Tyner Academy. Students in her advisory class are taking part in a program called "LAUNCH Chattanooga," where they develop ideas for businesses. Tyner, the Howard School, and Brainerd High School are all part of the program. They are taking part in a competition December 8 at 6 p.m. at the UTC Auditorium. The students will compete to win 10,000 dollars in prizes for their business idea.

O'Neil says they discussed their efforts at a recent luncheon. "We have visitors that come in to talk to them about how to write a business plan. The students come up with their own idea, and work through the business plan, learn all the different aspects of a business plan and learn a pitch in order to present at the time of the competition. The students have been working real hard and are real proud of their ideas."
